Shun Chonabayashi is interested in the interrelation between economic development and the environment, including food security, sustainable agriculture and climate change. His current research focuses on spatial analysis of the impact of oil price change and climate change on African food security.

Shun received an MA in International Development and Economics from Yale University and a BA from Soka University in Japan. Prior to joining Cornell, Shun worked at the World Bank for two years. His work focused on analyzing the impact of climate change on global tropical cyclone damage and agriculture in South America.
