Kushal is a master of science student at Cornell University in Applied Economics and Management with specialization in International and Development Economics. He is passionate about applying scientific rigor and rational thinking to decision-making to understand the world better and help make it a slightly better place. His research interests are studying on how food, policy and technological changes affect the most (socio- economically) vulnerable populations. He is specifically studying the dynamics of food assistance programs in the U.S. and for his Master’s thesis at Cornell, he is estimating the impact of BT brinjal’s adoption on the intra-household dynamics in Bangladesh.

He comes from a background in natural sciences with a B.S.-M.S. in biological sciences from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras India. Before coming to Cornell, he briefly worked as a research intern with LEAD at Krea University, research assistant at UC Berkeley Haas School and as short-term consultant with the World Bank’s Social Protection group.

In his free time, he loves playing tennis, going on a run or hike in Ithaca and listening to podcasts.
